Overdue catchup

Tonight I had dinner with Justin Fox and Kula at Kelly’s Bar and Grill. I literally live down the road from this place but I’ve never had the chance to actually eat here. I’ve heard good things about Kelly’s ribs - some saying it betters that of Hurricane’s - so I was keen when Justin suggested it as tonight’s venue. Here’s the brioche, which was so good I could’ve eaten it as a meal in itself.

Usually our get togethers involve a large group, so this was a nice change of pace. It was also perfect timing, as we are all at similar crossroads in terms of our careers. Most of the night was spent bouncing ideas off one another, getting opinions on things and picking each other’s brains. We also shared an entree of haloumi, which I’d rate a 6 out of 10. The haloumi that Papz has at his home bbqs is still king.

Here’s what we came to Kelly’s for: monster plates of pork ribs. This was their regular size, which I struggled to finish. It was pretty damn decent, with the meat falling off the bone the moment you nudged it with your knife. Definitely another visit to Kelly’s is in order. Is it better than Hurricane’s? Hmm… I’d say it’d be a tie.
